So Much Love...

Tonight for FHE, Kaiya gave us a lesson on "love". It consisted of one-liners like this...

"Emmie, how do you know when someone loves you?"

Emmie replies, "They don't kick or hit."

"Very good. Now see, I know that Zach loves me because he drew me a pretty picture. And I know that Mom loves me because she feeds me. That's how we show love."

There were also random outbursts of singing the song from the movie Enchanted, "That's how you know that you love her, that's how you know that you really, really, TRULY love her..." It's still in my head.

Anyway, during our somewhat convoluded lesson, we were making sugar cookies in the shape of hearts. Well, really I was half-heartedly making sugar cookies, while listening to Kaiya and sneaking LOTS of pinches of dough.

Hayden was in her little bouncey seat up on the counter, and she has been whining and fussing all day. She's almost got another tooth through, and she is mighty cranky. Anyway, without thinking much about it I put a little pinch of dough in her mouth, and ta da!, blessed silence. She LOVED that and when she started whining again a little later, I figured another pinch couldn't hurt. It made for a much more pleasant family time. I did cut her off after those couple tiny pinches. I promise. Really.

As I was helping the three older girls frost their cookies and decorate them with random candy from their Halloween buckets, I hear Dennis yell "Oh, GROSS!" He had picked up Hayden, and she'd puked down his shirt.

I acted all innocent and said she must just have a little bug or upset tummy. Poor thing.

***I know that my mom and mother-in-law are cringing that I fed my 5 month old cookie dough. It was done in a moment of extreme desperation. Don't call CPS.

It sounds like she was listening in primary yesterday. That's what the lesson was all about. Did she give you the picture she made for you? She is so cute!

Haa haa, I remember those moments! I guess now you can cross cookie dough off your list. I should try that with my 5 and 7 year olds, maybe FHE would be calmer at my house.

How funny, we watched Enchanted last night and we have been singing that song all night and today. "How does she know??". That is too funny. And yes all my boys were into it, mainly cause they wre teasing eachother by asking "how does she know you love her"

I used to slip Dennis some Frosty to keep his mouth quiet when I was babysitting him. Don't tell Susan.

I'm with you, the rules seem to relax with each kid! Hope your Tuesday is going good!

Hmm. I thought I posted a comment yesterday, but it's not there. Here's what it was: I am totally not cringing. Michael's first solid food was a Mickey Mouse ice cream at the age of four months. He loved it. Dennis enjoyed part of a McDonalds milkshake at the age of four months. We fed him anything to get him to stop crying! My daddy called it his first Big Mac attack.

Nothing to feel bad about, grandparents do it all the time. Nice thing is you can just hand them back to their mod or dad and act really innocent. Makes them love grandpa!

At least you waited untill your 4th child, Bobby was feeding Stacia chocolate chips before she could even eat solids. He said 'all Ginn's have to love chocolate' the funny thing is, now he wonders why our kids are so addicted to sweets.
