Before bed, I always sing Emmie and Claire a song. They take turns choosing each night, and the popular choices are usually: "The Winnie the Pooh Song", "I Hope They Call Me on a Mission", "I am a Child of God", or "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".
Lately, Claire has gotten creative. When it's her turn to pick the song she has been asking if she can make one up for me instead. Her songs are usually about five minutes long (no, I'm really not exagerating) and tend the follow a familiar tune, with whatever random words she chooses. I actually quite enjoy them, because she always says something completely hilarious - but I try to keep a straight face because Claire can be quite sensitive.
Tonight, her song started like this, to the tune of Winnie the Pooh...sort of:
My mommy and daddy love me so muuuuuuuuuuch
And they think I am very pretty
And I have lots of sissers
And they like me too
And I have a lot of fwiends
Just like Winnie the Pooh does
And their names are Piglet and Owl and Eyoooooooooooooore!
And then there's Rabbit
But him's kind of mean because no one told him about HEAVENLY FAAAAAAAA...THER!!!
At this point I started to chuckle, so of course Claire started to cry and screamed, "STOP LAUGHING AT ME!"
Another peaceful night in the Smallwood home.

Cute-my girls do they same thing. I've started telling them to sing a "short" song. Now, Sam composes songs like "Honey, honey comes from bees" at the piano. I make sure to record these performances though-so I can embarrass her later.
