Jillyn called me late on July 15th to say that her water had broken, but she wanted to hang out at home for a while and time contractions before being stuck at the hospital. I got dressed and went over there, and we played a few games of Skip Bo to pass the time. It's a little humbling to have a lady IN LABOR beat you at every game, but at least I could save face by saying that I was trying to let her win because it was her special day.
We headed to the hospital around 5 a.m. on the 16th. We chatted, watched some tv, napped, snacked, and I guzzled Diet Coke. Things didn't progress very quickly, but as soon as Jillyn got the epidural, Ella Rose was born about an hour later. She was 8 lbs 7 oz and 20 inches long - and perfect in every way. The whole experience was just beautiful. Thanks for letting me be a part of it, Jillyn and Kenny. :) Love you guys.
