The Saturday before Easter was not my favorite day ever. My friend and I had the brilliant idea that we should get up early and take our kids to a city-wide Easter Egg Hunt that was taking place in a large park in American Fork. NEVER AGAIN will I make that mistake. Not only was it raining and windy, but once the "hunt" started there was a stampede and it was all over in about 20 seconds. The kids barely got a thing. Standing in the freezing cold with whining kids and a whining mommy for 40 minutes was DEFINITELY not worth it at all. Oh well, live and learn. We went home and the kids watched a movie and ate popcorn while us mommy's went out to eat. That improved my mood significantly - as food usually does.
We had a great Easter Sunday with friends and family. My family all came over, along with Dennis' sister and her husband, and our good friends with their two girls. We had a ridiculously huge and delicious dinner, then we let the little ones go in the backyard for a big Easter Egg Hunt. It was a major improvement from our attempt at an Easter Egg Hunt the day before! The kids had lots of fun, and lots of sugar. And of course, a holiday is never really a holiday until someone vomits - and this time it was Claire. She ate so much sugar she made herself sick, but as soon as I'd cleaned her up she was right back to the candy again. That's my girl.

The Monday after Easter I had to have surgery, so that knocked me off my feet for a while. Dennis took that week off, and his mom flew in last Friday - and left yesterday. She was SO much help, and the girls and I are all really missing grandma this morning! Between Dennis and then his mom (and my family and friends that all pitched in to help) I felt very well taken care of.
The girls have been spoiled rotten this past week. They had so much fun spending extra time with Daddy and with both of their grandma's. Dennis' mom made little poncho's with each of them while she was here. Aren't they cute? The first thing Claire asked when she got out of bed this morning was, "Where my grandma?" When I reminded her that grandma had to go home yesterday, she said, "Where my pincho?" (Yes, she calls it her "pincho".) She put it on over her jammies and seemed to be happy.
Hayden thinks "pincho's" are delicious...

I'm so thankful to everyone that has brought us meals, called, e-mailed, offered to help with kids and cleaning, etc. these past couple of weeks. As I think everyone who reads this blog knows, since surgery I have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and will be going back in for another surgery on May 7th. Our family is in for a long few months, but it helps to know that we are surrounded by great people that are so willing to help us. We love you.
