Weekend Break...

A couple of friends and I decided that we should take a quick weekend away before the kids started school this week. One of the girls has in-law's that live in St. George and were kind enough to let us stay there. I love St. George and couldn't wait to leave our rainy weather here for the sunny, hot weather there!

We left Friday morning. I was a little bit stressed about leaving my puppy, but obsessively made Dennis a Piper "schedule". He was thrilled.

We had intended to go straight to St. George, but one of the girls had some family at a resort near Las Vegas called "Pirates Cove", and we made a last minute decision to spend the afternoon there. It was such a fun place to see! They had water slides and pools and a giant see-saw and the most amazing view of the lake. It was fantastic! Until I went down a water slide on my stomach and somehow ripped my big toe nail completely off. Yowza, I do not consider myself to have a low pain tolerance, but this hurt more than a little bit, and still does for that matter.

Toasting to a kid-free weekend...

The view...

My favorite picture of Gina. Ever.

I had already enjoyed more than my share of the free ice cream cones available there, yet soon after I hurt my toe and while I was still bleeding all over Jodi said, "You need ice cream." And it was true. My friends know me all too well.

Drowning my sorrows...

These pictures just make me laugh, because Jodi was so determined to lay out and get some sun, but wherever she went, the sun kept hiding. In this first one she yelled, "WHERE'S THE SUN GOING?!!" and promptly flipped in her chair to make the most of things...

Man's search for...sun...

On the way back to St. George, we decided to stop in Vegas for a buffet. I ate and ate and ate, and then had three pieces of pie. 'Nough said.

Saturday was fantastic. We got up, threw on our swimming suits, and headed out to the backyard pool. I got to soak up some beautiful St. George sun, all while catching up on my reading and snoozing. I wish I could start every morning that way.

Around 1 we headed out to Cafe Rio for lunch, then hit the outlet mall. It was too close by to resist. I'm sorry, honey.

We went back to Jodi's in-law's house where we had dinner, then played a couple of games. Sometime around 10 we decided we needed Cold Stone, and off we went. And then I got to eat TWO big bowls of ice cream without any kids begging me for tastes. Heaven.

I went to bed around 1, slept until after 10, and without even brushing my teeth, headed straight back out to the pool. We had a leisurly morning of lying around, eating breakfast around 1, and then slowly packing up. It ended way too soon, but it was sure great to sleep a full night and be able to relax for a couple of days! And the two girls I was with are some of my favorite people in the world. So thanks to them for making it such a chill weekend. It was just what I needed.

I still want to move to St. George. :)

that sounds like the best trip ever! (minus the toenail part--OUCH!!) I'm so jealous of the ice cream and sleeping. Ahhh, wouldn't that be nice.
